I love making small appetizers and finger food that can be served before dinner. The best appetizers are made with seasonal fruits, berries and vegetables, are light and fresh and preferably very easy and quick to make, if you ask me. Making a delicious appetizer doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Just throw together some of your favorite ingredients and you end up with something delicious to snack on. My best tip to make something delicious is to pair cheese with different fruits. You kind of can’t go wrong with it! Fruits, berries and cheese always make a delicious combination of sweet, tart, salty and tangy flavors. Not to forget a wonderful mix of textures. This appetizer with strawberries and mozzarella bites are as easy as it gets! But they still taste wonderful, feel fresh and are a great mix of sweet juicy strawberries and creamy, tender and fresh mozzarella. Add some fresh basil and thick balsamic vinegar for some extra tastes and texture. These strawberry and mozzarella bites are great to serve as appetizers and finger food but also to include in a sharing dinner or buffet. They are both vegetarian, gluten and grain free.

A few tips:

  • Use sweet and juicy strawberries, preferably when in season.
  • Try to use smaller strawberries that are the same size as the mozzarella bites.
  • Since these bites only take five minutes to make, I would recommend you not to prepare them too far in advance.
  • Using thick balsamic vinegar is optional, but recommended. It adds a lovely sweetness and creaminess.
