This recipe is for a delicious and creamy Whipped Camembert with Honey & Chili Fried Nectarines. This dish literally calls for seven ingredients, and most of them are staples ones, and 10 minutes of your time. Serve this whipped camembert with honey and chili fried nectarines as an appetizer or side dish with some delicious fresh bread, include it in a cheese and charcuterie board or include it in a sharing dinner. This dish is vegetarian, gluten, grain & sugar free and low carb.

That I love combining all sorts of cheeses with seasonal fruits and berries may not come as a surprise… It’s just a bullet proof combo that can’t go wrong! But I have to be honest, camembert is not one of my favorite cheeses. I think it’s a bit boring and…hmm bland. I would never come to think of serving it or including it on a cheese board, because there are just so many other cheeses I’d rather serve and eat. But whipped camembert is a whole other story! By coincidence I had a round of camembert at home, and I’ve seen all these whipped Brie cheeses everywhere.. So I thought why not try to pimp this camembert up by making it whipped?! And then of course pimping it up with some honey and chili fried nectarines. Wow were I surprised! It turned out so creamy, fluffy, rich, yet delicate with the cherry on the cake.. or in this cake the lovely addition of sweet warm fried nectarines, honey and chili flakes. Serve it with some freshly baked bread (I made sourdough pita bread to serve with it) and you have yourself a delicious, flavorful and incredibly yummy appetizer or spread. You can also include it on a charcuterie board or serve it as a side dish/dip sauce along with your main course or BBQ dinner. 

A few tips:

  • Use firm and not over ripe nectarines. This will make it easier to slice them and make sure they won’t turn out mushy and soggy.
  • Fry the nectarines on medium high heat for just 1-2 minutes on each side. You want them to turn slightly golden and warm, but not break or become mushy.
  • You can use fiber syrup, honey or agave for this dish depending on your food preferences. I used fiber syrup in mine and it turned out perfect.
  • Adjust the amount of chili flakes depending on how spicy you prefer your food. I would however not recommend you skipping the chili flakes completely since they make a wonderful contrast to the creamy whipped camembert and sweet honey.
  • Use a good quality camembert that is flavorful and creamy.
  • Using greek yogurt or Creme fraiche in the camembert is optional. It will make it easier to whip and make it a bit more creamy. I have tried this recipe both with and without the greek yogurt/Creme fraiche and it is delicious both ways.
  • Use a powerful hand or stand mixer when making this whipped camembert to make sure it turns out really creamy without any lumps or pieces left.
  • Scrape the side a few time while whipping/mixing the camembert.

  • Camembert
  • Greek yogurt or Creme fraiche (Optional)
  • Fiber syrup/honey/agave
  • Nectarine
  • Olive oil
  • Chili flakes
  • Sea salt

Ingredients

For the whipped camembert

  • 1 (250) g (wheel) Camembert (from the fridge)
  • 1-2 tbsp Greek yogurt or Creme fraiche (optional)
  • Fiber syrup/honey/agave

For the fried nectarines

  • 1 Nectarine pitted and sliced
  • A drizzle of Olive oil
  • 1-2 tbsp Fiber syrup/honey/agave
  • Chili flakes, to taste
  • A pinch of Sea salt

Instructions

  • Remove the rind from the camembert using a sharp knife.
  • Add to a mixer or high speed blender along with greek yogurt (if using). Mix until smooth, scrape the sides as needed.
  • Place the whipped cheese in a bowl.
  • Preheat a nonstick pan over medium heat with some olive oil.
  • Core and slice the nectarine.
  • When the pan add the nectarines add fry for 1-2 minutes. Stir when one side is golden brown and add the honey/agave/fiber syrup, chili flakes and sea salt. Fry for another 1-2 minutes. The nectarines should be warm and golden brown, but not soft and mushy.
  • Place the warm fried nectarines over the whipped cheese. Serve immediately while the peaches are still warm, together with some freshly baked bread (optional).
